Family Portrait

Ah, the Bolex. Does any other camera offer so dark and velvety a vision of light and shadow? I love seeing my family’s faces (most of the time, silhouettes) imprinted on this roll of film, a thin strip as obscure and delicate as memory.  There is nothing like seeing it projected from the stock itself, but this digital rendering isn’t so bad either.

It has been more than nice to see a  bunch of these folks during the past few holiday months. Here’s me sending out all the love and gratitude that two and a half minutes of 16mm film can capture. Y’all enjoy, and Happy New Year!
